Risk vs Reward

Risk vs reward. From texting and driving to starting a side hustle, we face risk vs reward situations every day. Taking risks can be a beautiful thing if we apply ourselves and go after what we want.

Short-term. From a week to week and month to month basis, we encounter risk vs reward situations that require quick decision making. Although some situations seem small, they can have a huge impact on our lives. We can ask ourselves if the reward of texting is worth the risk while driving or if talking to the person we’re interested in is worth the rejection. The risks worth taking are the ones we truly believe in. Life is much more fun when we put ourselves out there and experience more.

Long-term. On a longer timeline, assessing risk vs reward becomes a bit more challenging. We may want to move in with someone, transition to a new job, or start a business on our own. Whatever it is, we should follow whatever we envision for ourselves in the future. Life is too short not to take the right risks. The reward could be priceless.

Calculated risks. We need to remember that every risk should be calculated. There are pros and cons to everything. Some risks may be worth it for others, but not for us. Analyzing whether the positives outweigh the negatives helps us make better decisions, so we can experience all that life has to offer.

To take risk is to face the unknown. It will be dark, challenging, and full of obstacles we never imagined. We're not sure what lies ahead, but it may just be worth it.

"If you take no risks, you will suffer no defeats. But if you take no risks, you win no victories." -Richard M. Nixon
